| As a company handling chemical substances, Wako has recognized that environmental preservation and safe operations are critical issues and addressed them for years. In 2000, our Head Office, Tokyo Branch Office, and all of our seven factories received certification under the ISO14001 environmental management system. As a long-term program, we prepared the "Wako Eco-Plan" setting forth our environmental goals whereby our employees promote environmental conservation activities in line with this plan. In addition, we make social contributions through the development of environment-related products such as reagents for measuring dioxins, reagents for automatic measurement of total nitrogen and phosphorous levels, and "green chemistry" products. We also strive to implement "clean" activities together with area residents and neighboring corporations. Our goal is to become a company truly trusted by our customers. We will continue to make dedicated and sincere efforts to preserve the environment. |

| By making use of the accumulated data, we actively promote the comprehensive monitoring and management of chemical substances including activities to reduce emissions of wastewater, noise, vibrations, waste substances, and substances covered by the PRTR regulations (Japanese law). |

We organize Risk Communication, an event at which government officials, corporate representatives, local residents and scholars get together to discuss environmental issues and prevention measures, and hold exchange events for factory staff and local residents as part of our efforts to harmonize the global environment and the regional community.
