Antibodies against Vesicular Glutamate Transporters
Anti Rat VGLUT-1, Rabbit


L-Glutamate is an excitatory chemical transmitter that plays an essential role in neuronal plasticity, behavior, learning and memory in the central nervous system. On the other hand, VGLUTs play an essential role in glutamate signal output through vesicular storage of L-glutamate. Three kinds of VGLUTs have been identifi ed so far. Recent studies have demonstrated that VGLUTs are also expressed in peripheral cells such as stomach, intestines, pancreas and testes. In particular, the discovery that glutamate is co-localized with glucagon in secretory granules in_cells of islets of Langerhans has been noted for new mechanism of blood glucose control. Anti Rat VGLUT, Rabbit can detect glutamatergic central nerves, peripheral nerves and nonneural cells.
Both antibodies are applicable to immunocytochemistry, immunoelectron microscopy and Western blotting.

Lipids in serum consist of triglycerides, cholesterols, phospholipids, free fatty acids and slight amounts of fat-soluble components such as fatsoluble vitamins and carotenes. Triglycerides, as major components of very low density lipoprotein (VLDL) and chylomicrons, play an important role in metabolism as energy sources and transporters of dietary fat.
This kit is based on an enzymatic method using N-ethyl-N- (2-hydroxy-3- sulfopropyl)-3,5-dimethoxyaniline sodium salt (DAOS) as a blue pigment.
