Packing materials, Wakosil®, and columns packed with Wakosil®, Wakopak®, are manufactured based on our strict quality control for stable supply of high-quality columns.

Each lot of the packing materials is subjected to physical property inspection, such as check of particle shape and measurement of particle size, and to quality inspection in actual columns using various kinds of samples for one inspection item (some examples are given below). Since the columns use selected packing materials which have passed inspection under strict conditions, they can be used reliably for various analyses.
Examples of end capping (basic compounds) test methods
It is known that basic compounds show adsorption and tailing owing to the influence of residual silanol in packing materials. The end capping effect is tested by using basic compounds, pyridine and procainamide.
Example of metal coordination compound test method
It is known that metal coordination compounds show adsorption and tailing owing to the influence of metal on the packing material surface. The influence of contained metal is tested by using a metal coordination compound, Hinokitiol.
Example of lot-to-lot variation (retention factor and separation factor) test method
The column packing condition is controlled through inspection with uracil, benzene and naphthalene. We supply stable columns with less lot-to-lot variation of packing material and column-to-column variation.
