The improved octadecyl silylation and end-capping methods achieve high separation and retention capacities even for aqueous eluents and enable well-balanced retention particularly of mixed samples having a wide range of polarity. Basic compounds can be analyzed sharply without tailing because residual silanol groups are thoroughly end-capped.
