This product is an alternative for serum used in the culture of nerve cells. It is suited to primary culture of nerve cells and neural stem cells. Differentiation
of neural stem cells is induced by the ingredients in FBS. Serum alternative such as this product is used to culture stem cells while keeping the cells undifferentiated.
This product is prepared using transferrin (apo). Transferrin (holo) is used generally but addition of N2 supplement containing transferrin (apo) may improve proliferation
of neural stem cells depending on cell species.

3. Practical data (1): Culture of rat hippocampus-derived neural stem cells

4. Practical data (2): Maintenance/differentiation of rat hippocampus-derived
neural stem cells
● Maintenance of neural stem cells
Maintenance of stem cells was confirmed by the expression of Sox2
after addition of 25 ng/mL bFGF.
● Differentiation to nerve cells and glia cells
[Nerve cells]: Differentiation to nerve cells was confirmed by
the expression of TuJ1
after addition of 1 μM retinoic acid and 5 μM forskolin.
Differentiation to glia cells was confirmed by the expression of GFAP after addition of 10% FBS and 50 ng/mL LIF.
