5-HT1A and 5-HT2C receptors are the G protein-coupled receptors activated by serotonin. Both receptors are highly expressed in the central nervous system, and are reported to affect sleep, feeding, thermoregulation and anxiety. Anxiolytics and antipsychotics, which affect these receptors have been developed, and These receptor have gained increasing interest as drug discovery targets.
Wako supplies two kinds of rat monoclonal antibodies, which specifically recognize native form-mouse 5-HT1A and 5-HT2C receptor, respectively, established by DNA immunization.

DNA immunization is a technique for generating antibodies against target proteins by immunizing expression vector of the target gene.

Features of DNA immunization

  • Antibodies recognizing the native form of proteins can be obtained.
  • The method is suitable for generating antibodies to membrane protein.

⇒ Localized neuron cell bodies were observed in the prefrontal cortex in which high expression of 5-HT1A receptor mRNA has been reported.

Sample: Prefrontal cortex of 10 week-old mouse brain
Section: 12 μm-frozen section

dorsal raphe nucleous (DRN), which highly expression of 5-HT1A receptor mRNA has been reported.

→ The localization signals were observed in nucleus accumbens shell (Nac shell), basolatetal amygdala (BLA),
dorsal raphe nucleous (DRN), which highly expression of 5-HT2C receptor mRNA has been reported.
