Macro azo initiator (MAI) is a unique azo bis
compound, which gives block polymer by polymerizing with radical
polymeric vinyl monomer. MAI has repeated structural sequences
of polymer segment and azo group and its molecule has several
radical-generating sites. For this reason, MAI can be designed
to produce polymer with high effect of blocked state. Since it
dissolves in various solvents, it can be employed on a wide range
of polymerizations such as solution polymerization, suspension
polymerization and emulsion polymerization. Since MAI reacts with
a variety of monomers in copolymerization, it is highly potential
for molecule design of block polymer for any purpose. VPS series
whose polymer segment is poly dimethylsiloxane and VPE series
whose polymer segment is poly ethylene glycol are available in
Wako. Besides, Wako undertakes custom manufacturing for various
block polymers utilizing MAI.

| VPS series has poly dimethylsiloxane (silicone) unit and
its block polymer polymerized with vinyl monomer can easily
reflect features such as heat resistance, water repellency,
lubricating ability, mold releasing, biocompatibility and
gas permeation in resin materials blending with other polymers.
Currently, two types of products with different molar weight
of poly siloxane unit are available. |

| VPE series has poly ethylene glycol (PEG) unit and its
block polymer polymerized
with vinyl monomer can easily reflect features such as hydrophilicity,
dispersibility, antistatic property and anti-tarnish property
in resin materials blending with other polymers. Currently,
three types of products with different molar weight of poly
ethylene glycol unit are available. |
